About Me
Hi, I’m Dr. Carolina Montalvo, a licensed clinical psychologist with a PsyD from Nova Southeastern University. I’m licensed to practice in New York, Florida, and California, and I am PSYPACT certified, which allows me to offer telehealth services to clients in participating PSYPACT states.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in diverse clinical settings, including community mental health centers, correctional facilities, residential substance use programs, and a neuropsychology department at a VA hospital. I also spent several years working in forensic psychology, specializing in incarcerated and court-mandated individuals. These experiences have shaped my trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and holistic approach to therapy. They also gave me the opportunity to treat a wide variety of mental health conditions and work with individuals from all walks of life, including those healing from trauma and complex psychological issues.
Today, I specialize in working with adults facing a broad spectrum of challenges, offering both traditional psychotherapy and psychedelic-assisted therapies, including Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). I work with clients navigating mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder; trauma and PTSD; burnout (especially among professionals and caregivers); and many other psychological issues.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from multiple evidence-based methods, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and compassion-focused therapy. I work with clients to explore how their thoughts, beliefs, and life experiences shape their present challenges, helping them build emotional regulation skills, challenge unhelpful patterns, and live with greater authenticity and purpose.
In addition to traditional psychotherapy, I also offer psychedelic integration approaches. Since 2021, I have been offering Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), a powerful tool for emotional healing, especially for those who have not found relief through traditional treatments. My advanced training includes psychedelic integration through Fluence, MDMA-assisted therapy with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), and KAP at the Polaris Insight Center. These specialized approaches allow me to support clients in integrating psychedelic experiences into their healing process, fostering deeper emotional growth and transformation.
I offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) in person in New York City and Miami, as well as via telehealth for clients in New York, Florida, California, and other PSYPACT-participating states. I also provide individual therapy via telehealth for clients in these same states.
