Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy

A supported path for deeper healing

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy can help create access to emotions, memories, and insights that may feel difficult to reach through talk therapy alone. At Trypstate, this work is grounded in preparation, safety, and integration, so the experience has room to become meaningful and lasting.

KAP medicine sessions are offered in person in Miami and New York City. Preparation and integration therapy are available via telehealth for clients in New York, Florida, California, and PSYPACT states.

A different kind of access

KAP can create space for what feels hard to reach

Many people describe a sense of spaciousness, clarity, or emotional release during ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. The inner critic may quiet, making it easier to explore stuck patterns, process difficult experiences, and relate to yourself with more openness.

KAP is not about forcing a breakthrough. It is a supported therapeutic process that combines preparation, medicine sessions, and integration so what comes up can be understood, grounded, and carried into daily life.

KAP may support:

  • Depression or treatment-resistant depression

  • Anxiety, including generalized or social anxiety

  • PTSD and unresolved trauma

  • Burnout or chronic stress

  • Obsessive-compulsive patterns

  • Major life transitions or existential distress

  • Disconnection from emotions or sense of self

  • Patterns you understand, but cannot seem to shift

What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?

A medicine-supported therapy process

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy combines ketamine, a legal and fast-acting medicine, with therapy to support deeper emotional healing. In carefully monitored doses, ketamine can create a gentle shift in consciousness that opens access to insight, emotion, and self-exploration.

You are not left to navigate the experience alone. I remain present throughout medicine sessions to offer grounding, reassurance, and support. Integration therapy then helps you make sense of what came up and begin carrying those insights into daily life.

Therapy

Offers a grounded relationship and safe container for what arises before, during, and after the medicine session.

Integration

Helps you make meaning of insights, emotions, images, sensations, or memories and begin carrying them into daily life.

What to expect from treatment

KAP asks for time, preparation, and space to integrate

Before beginning medicine sessions, we start with a psychological intake and preparation sessions to assess fit, clarify intentions, discuss what to expect, and build grounding tools.

Medicine sessions typically last around 3 hours, with integration sessions scheduled afterward to help you process the experience and bring insights into daily life.

Many clients complete a series of 4 to 6 medicine sessions over 2 to 3 weeks, depending on their treatment plan. During this time, it can be helpful to keep your schedule lighter so there is room for rest, reflection, and emotional processing.

Safety and fit

KAP is not appropriate for everyone

Before beginning Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, we take time to make sure this work is clinically appropriate for your mental and physical health. This includes a psychological intake, preparation sessions, and medical clearance from a licensed prescriber.

KAP may not be recommended for people with certain medical conditions, a history of psychosis, pregnancy, or acute psychological crisis. Active substance use concerns are something we look at closely, but they don’t automatically rule this work out. We’ll talk through where you are and decide together whether it’s a good fit right now.

The screening process helps ensure that your care plan is safe, informed, and aligned with your needs. The work is grounded in trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and ethical best practices, with support before, during, and after each medicine session.

Safety includes:

✔ Comprehensive psychological intake

✔ Medical clearance from a licensed prescriber

✔ Preparation and grounding tools

✔ A personalized safety plan

✔ Therapeutic support during medicine sessions

✔ Integration after each session
